Sarva Sree Foundation (SSF) presents ‘Exotic Voice of South India’, a Carnatic (South Indian) classical music workshops (instrumental) and concert (vocal & instrumental) to spread the knowledge and understanding of this art form. The proposed project is a workshop series involving University of Iowa students and faculty, several assemblies at elementary schools within the Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty CSD’s, a public performance at West Music . The week long interactions with the community will be summarized in a final concert at Englert Theatre which will be led by six professional musicians from South India and USA that will reiterate and further the several elements discussed in the percussion and melody workshops. The project will promote this rhythmic and lilting form of music to communities and will provide a unique experience and opportunity to the general public and music lovers of Iowa.

March 6th: Assembly at Lemme elementary school, Iowa City - 1:00pm
Lec/Demo class on Carnatic compositions at the UI School of Music - 3:30pm
March 8th: Concert at Englert Theatre. 5pm -7pm
March 9th: Lec/Demo class on Saxophone at the UI School of Music - 12:15pm
